Chepping Media ‘Highly Commended’ Chepping Media ‘Highly Commended’Business communications specialist Chepping Media has achieved second place in its class in the highly prestigious PR Week magazine national awards.Chepping Media’s flagship publication, Argos Post, was judged to be among the best internal newspapers in the UK, and was highly commended in the corporate communications category. This category was the most contested of all, with the announcement of the shortlist being delayed to give the judges more time to consider every entry in detail. Argos Post was selected from a shortlist of five, and came second only to Westminster City Council’s bi-monthly magazine Westminster Reporter.More than 1,600 guests attended the glittering awards ceremony, which was held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, on Tuesday last week. The occasion was hosted by BBC presenter Jeremy Vine, with support from Alan Dedicoat of National Lottery and Wake Up to Wogan fame. Entertainment was provided by comedian Terry Alderton.Argos Post, a monthly 16 page, full colour tabloid newspaper, is distributed to more than 20,000 Argos employees at more than 670 stores throughout the UK. It has been designed and produced by Chepping Media for more than 13 years, and has collected a number of awards over that period.Chepping Media’s Julie Norton, who handles the Argos account and made a major contribution to the success through her role as production editor, was delighted with the result. “We have achieved a number of regional awards for Argos Post, but this is the first time we have done so well at national level.” She said.“We were competing against many much larger organisations with far more money to spend than us, and our success is a tribute to the team at Chepping who work so hard to bring the publication out on time – and on budget – every time.”Argos, together with its sister company Homebase, were recently demerged from their parent company GUS, and given the new identity of Home Retail Group. To mark the occasion, Chepping Media was commissioned last month to design and produce ‘Welcome Home’ – a commemorative magazine launching the group’s new identity. It was distributed to more than 70,000 individuals throughout the organisation.Chepping Media will continue to produce Welcome Home in traditional magazine format and as an e-zine on a regular basis. 5:24 pm Wednesday, November 1, 2006
